Carbonly – A Data-Driven Sustainability Ecosystem

Abstract: An easy-to-use cloud software; “Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission management system” (GEMS) for all types of businesses. GEMS follows the global standards, guidelines, and calculations for GHG emissions and sustainability accounting frameworks. It helps to calculate the “Lifecycle Assessment” (LCA) and “Product Carbon Footprint” (PCF) of all types of businesses. Carbon labels are used to communicate the LCA and PCF to carbon-conscious consumers. Greenhouse gases are measured in “carbon dioxide equivalent” (Co2e) unit of measurement based on the conversion factors, called “Global Warming Potential” (GWP) prepared and published by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). “Co2e Passport” is a mobile application; Alongside the world’s first reward system for carbon-conscious consumers, it provides a global identity to the carbon-conscious consumer community (CCCC). “Co2e Passport” is an innovative social platform – bringing together carbon-conscious consumers and take the benefit of conscious community and shared economy. Moreover, as an e-commerce platform – It is integrated with online/offline shopping stores for carbon measured and labeled products. Conscious consumers receive rewards from corporate reward partners on low carbon purchases. Consequently, conscious communities of corporates and consumers create a healthy and positive handprint to overcome their footprint.
Since the 18th century – the industrial revolution, the earth’s temperature has risen by 1 degree Celsius (Approx.) which is equal to the temperature increased due to anthropogenic activities in the previous 10,000 years. This climate risk has put humanity under severe survival danger. The more greenhouse gases are trapped into the earth’s atmosphere, the fast we will head towards our extinction. Now is the time to measure and manage our ecological footprint.
Regulators, Corporates, and Consumers constitute this whole ecosystem. Regulators have been trying to implement laws, regulations, and policies to mitigate the climate risk for many years. however, they have not achieved significant results due to a lack of consensus from corporates and consumers. This gap has triggered the birth of Carbonly – A data-driven sustainability ecosystem. GEMS Working Model:
Carbonly has created GEMS (GHG Emission Management System), A software as a service (SaaS) application for corporates to calculate their GHG emission lifecycle and product carbon footprint. It will create a databank for low-carbon suppliers and products. Environmental training and carbon management programs (CMP) are catalysts to ensure that ecological footprint is measured, managed, and communicated.

Carbonly has created Co2e Passport, A mobile application; Alongside the world’s first reward system, it provides a global identity to the carbon-conscious consumer community (CCCC). This app is a social platform bringing together carbon-conscious consumers. It is integrated with online/offline shopping stores for carbon-labeled products so that consumers purchase sustainable products and get rewards.
One of the IBM reports shows that 57% of global consumers, in retail industries, are willing to change their purchasing habits and help to reduce the negative environmental impact. Moreover, there are 71% of those surveyed indicated that traceability is very important, and they are willing to pay a premium for brands that provide it.
